69 c10, ls swapped lwb..
so I bought the truck back in April of this year, I was lucky and found it locally!! It started off (as many projects do), fix what I was told was wrong and drive the truck!! So once I got it home I replaced the points distributor in the 250 6cyl with a hei setup, bought a battery and it runs!!! Was super excited!!! Until I went to turn the key, and it kept running!!! Wth!!! That turned into finding a wiring rats nest!! Basically had to pull the power plug off the distributor to kill the motor!! Not good!!!
Will post again the continuance of the long road im on!!! |

Re: 69 c10, ls swapped lwb..
So after getting it running I started cleaning out the cap (removing the seat and vinyl floor covering), i found LARGE HOLES, in the floor.. (wasnt told about this)!!! What I was told was wring, rear trailing arms, possible brakes (they did work), and bad gas!!
So after finding all this wrong with the truck, I decided it was gonna be a complete rebuild!! So at this point I built a poor man's garage, and made a work space.. not the greatest but it works!! After building it, I started disassembly of the front end of the truck, sold the motor and trans quickly!!! I replaced the entire front suspension, upper and lower a arms, 2.5" front drop spindles. Also found some rot in the bottom of the front crossmember, so had to fix that with a piece of steel plate!!

So at this point i turned the truck around, i plan to run old school rally wheels, got 6 from a friend for free!!! At this point i started on the rear, first thing was removeing the bed!! And as you can see there was a lot of junk on the frame!! The last pic you can see the donor lurking over in the corner!!! More on that later!!!

I then started by lifting the cab, it was a little scetchy!!! Then I ordered more new parts.. new tubular trailing arms, 4" lowering springs crossmember with adjustability!! And duel exhaust holes!!! As well as 5 lug rear conversion!!! O ya did the 5 lug on the front as well!! Plus my cheering squad!! The wife!!

Know I'm just cleaning and painting the frame.. then I found more rot in a crossmember.. was kinda irritated by this!!! Found a local mud truck builder to build me a new one,(waiting a few weeks for that)!!

Re: 69 c10, ls swapped lwb..
This is pretty much where I'm at.. once the crossmember is built ill bolt that in. Need a few parts for the rear end before it goes back in..
Ok onto the ls!!! I work for fedex, and I bought it for dirt cheap, and drive it home!! It has a little over 200k on it, it has a 4l80e in it, o and the motor is the lq4 6.0!!! The plan is to build and possibly stroke it!! But there is also the possibility of a turbo setup!! Thenonly thing thats been decided on the motor is the sheetmetal intake!! |
