Anyone ever put a 6.5" compentent speaker set into kick panels???
I'm still planning my stereo install and currently looking at speakers. I've seen the Custom Autosound kick panel speakers for about $130 that come with there own brand 6.5" speaker. They also offer a Pioneer speaker model for $190. I found a place that will sell the panel without any speakers for $75. I got the idea of getting a component set to use instead. I figured there should be enough room to surface mount the tweeter at an angle on the panel directly above the 6.5". Has anyone tried this? How deep of a speaker can you mount in these panels?
P.S. Please don't tell me "mount them in the door" or anything like that. I don't want to hack anything in this cab since its so clean. Thanks.

Somebody had a thread on some custom molded kick panels about a month ago. Try searching for that thread. Again, Custom Austosound sux. Upgrade your speakers. I've seen some tweeters mounted in small round enclosures attached to the bottom of the dash.

Here is a couple pics of kick pods that a buddy and myself made for my 72. They house 6.5" Diamond Audios.
