Vent windows

Do any of you folks know if the vent window assemblies for my 77 are available after market or if anyone on the forum rebuilds them. I'd like to keep the originals if possible. Thanks in advance

Re: Vent windows

I rebuilt mine which was quite a job. Only needed new rubber seals and paint.
If you do find some already rebuilt, they will not be cheap. There is a place you can send them to for rebuild. You can check out this site,

Just got mine back from Precision. Best money I've spent on this build, they look brand new.

Bandit, thanks for the link. I'll be checking into Precision for the rebuild.

Re: Vent windows

Had mine restored/rebuilt from Precision also. I agree, best money I spent on the truck. They came back like new, function like new and no more wind noise.

When it comes to vent windows, don't go aftermarket. Not worth the trouble. But the last I saw, they don't have those. Just looked, and its showing just the right side tinted. But the other thing you need to take notice of. It's saying 73-91. Too the best of my knowledge, the 73-79 & 80-87 the vent window is shaped different. So I would be concerned with fitment issues, if they are saying it will fit 73-87. Don't go cheap on the vent windows, you'll be sorry. Have them rebuilt by Precision.

My buddy ordered the LMC vent windows a few years ago. He installed them and hated them They did not close right, They leaked air while driving and water when it rained. He sent his originals to Precision to get rebuilt.

When I was restoring my 1958 VW bus I rebuilt the vent windows and they were a pain to put back together, hardware wise that was easy it was getting the rubber seal that were a bi*$%. They would not stay in the channel even after "warming" them up to make them more pliable. In the end they did come out good, no leaks and no wind whistling. I don't feel I can go through the hassle of rebuilding another set again.

I was thinking of doing the vents on my 74 but then remembered the frustration I went through rebuilding the 58's windows....Glad some one posted Precision link, when the time comes that's where I'll be sending mine to get done!

I did mine as well. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. As Precision says in their video: "be patient." They're right!
