Cab to Frame alignement?? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Ok, I put the cab on the frame yesterday and I'm getting ready to bolt it down. But want to make sure I get my cab on the frame right so the box and fenders will line up right. So the question is how do you align the cab to the frame? Currently looking for a spot to measure on each side to center it that way?

I did search this forum but didn't find anything as well as the factory assembly manual.

Don't tighten it down until you have the front end assembled would be my suggestion. Find a common spot on the frame and measure out to the edge of a rocker at the front and rear of the cab. That will get you close for final assembly.

Thanks Stepside, my concern was I would go to put on the box and fenders and the gaps would be all over the map.

I measured from the frame to the cab rails and it was within an 1/8" of each side. I tightened it down for now to make sure it doesn't shift if I roll it around. I thought someone may know an actual dimension to use.

I have been building wrecks for over thirty years just use the X method when putting together if your within an 1/8 inch your in pretty good shape the one thing to remember is these truck were not exactly known for the fit or finish from the factory. Always measure from left to right say left side fender mount to right corner bolt hole on the left. Then take note and if they are indeed off split the difference and you will be dead on every time.
