55-59 Tourist over here looking for a place to find parts

Hey Gents,

So I saw a guy do a front disc brake swap on his 56 Chevy with 80's K5 Blazer stuff, but I'm not sure where to go for parts... I was hoping to grab some cheap calipers/discs/lines off of an 85ish K5 but they dont show up in Pick N Pull.

Any recommendations for places to get parts in Nor Cal for the older stuff? I can order cheap remans but I'd rather rebuild a GM caliper.

K5 Blazer brakes are the same as a K10 pickup or Suburban. 80's stuff will have Corporate 10 bolt front axle. Get new lines/hoses, don't reuse old used stuff like that.

It can still be useful to pull hoses, belts, etc from a junkyard vehicle. They're useful for mockup purposes. If you mocked up with a trashed stock k5/k10 hose, you can then go searching for a hose that's two inches longer than stock, instead of starting from scratch.

Even if you are building the fitment around the part, it's still handy to have mocked it up with a stock component. For example, you've just proven that a specific hose has the correct length and fittings for your custom application. Now you won't hesitate to splurge on a top-quality hose, since you know it's definitely the one you want. If you were second guessing yourself on fitment, you'd be more likely to just buy a cheap RockAuto part in case it doesn't fit.
