Re: mystery camshaft

Yes, the following stampings along the cam.
1579 between cam gear and adjacent lobe. Opposite this number is what looks like OWO.
D6 is stamped b/t last journal and cam gear.
B/t 1st and 2nd lobe is 117 or 11T. Opposite that is 25.
No other markings.
And thanks for your interest in helping to solve the puzzle..

Re: mystery camshaft

Yes, it seems like a crap shoot. Best I give up on this and focus on more body work so I can refit my cab to the chassis on my 62 stepper...!

Re: mystery camshaft

Not to be a wise guy, but that camshaft might be better used as a post for a mailbox. So much unknown, you could spend a lot of money and time for no useful result. The reason that I (jokingly) say mailbox post is because there is a mailbox at a house about 1/3 a mile from me that the owners actually are using a cam from (I think) a 6-cylinder engine for the post. I'll take a pic if you want, but a V-8 camshaft would be kind of short for that use.

Re: mystery camshaft

I may just consider that if I don't identify it. Thanks, good tip!
