Newbie from Boulder
Hey guys, I heard about this site over on ColoradoK5.com and just wanted to say hello and introduce myself. I live in Boulder, Colorado and do web design. Married 20 years with 2 boys, 19 and 10. I mostly play pool and drag race, but I've always liked first gen Blazers and when this one came up, I couldn't resist. I'm just finishing putting a Vortec 350 into a '71 Blazer I picked up. It's got a custom grill/light setup, a split top and a moderate lift. Power steering, brakes, and full-cage. It's definately a user, not a show truck. I'm probably going to pull the top and put a bikini on it and just tool around this summer. I kinda like the notion of an urban assault vehicle...
I look forward to getting some advice and meeting up with some of you for some offroad run. Anyway, here's a pic: [image]http://www.webpeak.com/~tony/bluez/blazer4.jpg[/image]

Previous owner did the mods. I'm just putting the Vortec in. Here's another pic of the grill:

I haven't tried to take it off yet, I'm just getting it registered after the new vortec 350 went in. It appears the front and rear can both be removed or left on either way.

Welcome to the board. I saw your pics on CK5. Very interesting top modification. Right when you were posting about your top over there, someone on this board was thinking about doing the same thing.

Thanks for the welcome, guys. I like the truck more every day.
The throw on the 3-speed's shifter kinda' makes me feel like a bus driver, though... It'll be fine for offroad, but for daily driving it's going to be a pain. I had the clutch adjusted poorly and it was so tall I was almost hitting myself in the jaw with my knee on every shift. Damn...
