installing headliner where there wasn,t one.

I have all the moldings to install my headliner on my 80,s truck but there never was a headliner in it before. Just wondering what order to do this. I was thinking of installing all the molding and drill all the holes and then taking it apart to install the headliner. Looks like the back pillar molding {the one for the the seatbelt } should be my starting point and then work my way around, what do you think ?

I did this some years ago, but I believe I started with the cab corner pieces first. Hold them in place, mark holes, then drill. Then do the front, and last the middle pieces over the doors.

i would start with the windshield pillar moldings first . You may be able to just place them in location without drilling any holes then do the rearcab corners with the seatbelt holes. you could just tape them on then the front back and sides will only go one way. Good news is even if you miss with a hole or two no one will see this as it is all covered by the moldings. I bought a hard plastic molded headliner and I love it. Fits perfectly. Good Luck

For these did y'all have to cut a hole for a dome light or go without? I just picked up a second headliner today so going to use the best of the two i have.

i bought a pre formed plastic headliner that i dyed and it came with the hole already cut.

But did you have to cut the metal roof of your cab inside for the dome light? Mine currently doesnt have the hole and just nervous for the cut.

I don,t have a dome light in mine, I just filled the headliner where the dome light should be when I recovered it. I didn,t want to fish wires thru. I don,t really need a dome light as I don,t drive much at night

i did exactly as described above and i used a piece of carbdboard which i used an office stapler to hold in place themn put my material on the headliner board i started in the back as the houlder belts hold in the rear plastics did the two rears made holes for screws installed headliner then used the front two to hold up then made the screw holes there lastly the pieces in between
