Gapless rings
Whats your opinion? I know they help w/ compression, reduce blowby, etc... but what about longevity? Would I get 150,000 miles out of a set?

In a word. No. With regular oil changes you could probably realistically get 80,000 or maybe a bit more but thats pushing it. I have an uncle that raced top fuel years ago who tried them along with everything else then went back to real rings. The ring sections are rather thin and wear between themselves and start to flutter I'm told. Ive never seen a side by side dyno comparison on two otherwise identical engines over time which only makes me wonder why I havent seen such a comparison.

From what i've read they're recommended when optimal sealing is required but they will wear sooner because of their thickness. Always a trade off i suppose. Get some good rings and make sure you have the gap set right, they'll last you a good long time
