Gauge cluster leds not working
I replaced my gauge cluster bulbs with 194 leds today. The blinkers are working, the gauges are working but the lights are not. I’ve flipped a few for polarity, but no luck. I even installed one behind the temp control and it’s working. The main plug seems seated properly and none of the circuit board “fingers” at connector are damaged. Am I missing something? Any suggestions would be great.
Thanks in advance. |

Re: Gauge cluster leds not working
The background bulbs get power though the dimmer on the headlight switch through at least the 87 models. Not sure about 88 & newer. Those dimmers often develop dead spots. Bad news is the LEDs won't draw enough current to get a voltage drop across the dimmer so will be full bright. But a lot of the clusters are dim enough that full bright is what you want anyway.

Re: Gauge cluster leds not working
The upper right light did work but now it’s not. The dimmer seems to be working because the temp led actually dims. Are you suggesting changing out the light switch?

Re: Gauge cluster leds not working
Looks like I got it sorted. Working on it at night helps. A couple loose connections and a few bulb polarities. Good to go!
