'68 SWB Project

Bought this truck in January and started working on it a couple of months ago. Got the back end done recently. Just need to do one more brake line and the tail pipe (after I get the bed back on). Wrapped up most of the front end this week and will post some photos of that later. Back end is all new except for the differential and driveshaft. My trailing arms were rusted completely through, so I made my own, which ended up being a lot more time and effort than I expected. But they turned out nice and everything fit. I also made up a mandrel bend exhaust from the engine back. Next I am adding power steering and power brakes with hydroboost. I'll post more photos as things progress. Hope to have it all wrapped up and back on the road in a week or two.

Re: '68 SWB Project

For the trailing arms I welded plates on the top and bottom from the spring base back, then welded tubing in the holes for the u-bolts and spring mount bolt. I probably spent more time planning and prepping parts than actually welding, etc.

Re: '68 SWB Project

Got it back on the road a couple weeks ago. Didn't take photos of the front end but that's all new as well except for the springs and control arms. Upgraded from manual steering to power steering and drum brakes to disc. All went pretty smooth. Truck handles great and brakes are unbelievable with the hydroboost. Can't recommend that enough. Planning to drive it as is while I complete some other projects, then get to the body and drivetrain.
