Shipping delays

Just thought i would throw this out there for everyone to be aware of.
I shipped a couple of priority usps boxes recently with 3 day shipping taking up to 12 days in one instance. Looks like we need to have some patience right now for the buyer OR seller with delays beyond our control.
UPS and fed ex may get overwhelmed coming up also...
Lets keep this towards the top for a bit.

Re: Shipping delays

I ordered a small part off eBay on Dec 1. Delivery via usps was scheduled for Dec 5. Still not here.

It’s an out for procrastinators- “Honey your gift should have been here, it’s not my fault.”

Re: Shipping delays

This has become normal and usual. I am buying from here and in some locations, everyone should be patient. The virus has made people buy madly. I don't blame mail companies there are too many requests

Re: Shipping delays

Have ran into that several times already ordering parts and material for the interior of my 57 2 door sedan. Upholstery guy getting a bit irritated at taking so long to finish my interior. Says he's never had so much trouble in getting in materials as he has for this car. Understands the situation with the lengthy lead times and such but still taking him much longer than normal to finish a car.

Guess I'm not too upset about it, out of my control, no car shows this year, too cold now to go cruising. Above my pay grade as I used to say at work when things were decided without my input, LOL.

Re: Shipping delays

I was picking up an argon welding tank at my local place, and he also sells quite a bit of pipe and flat steel. He was saying he was having a lot of trouble getting steel period. Not sure if it’s signs of what might be in the future. I sure hope not.

Re: Shipping delays

My only complaint would be the seller not shipping it out in a timely manner. I bought some off eBay on the 4th and the buyer is just now shipping it. I understand the delays and I can deal with that but I’d also like my item shipped in a timely manner...

Re: Shipping delays

I have a package that I should have gotten last week (Priority mail) that's been missent to Guam. It's in Hawaii right now. I guess I'll call it my vacation in a box. It'll be a two week or so journey for a Priority package. Nothing to do, no use to complain, just sit back and relax.

Re: Shipping delays

I see delivery trucks out 'til 9 pm dropping off packages and my poor little mail lady is getting run ragged , Gotta appreciate what they do. UPS and FedEx are even using Uhaul trucks to try to keep up.

Me and anew4961 are dealing with that now. I mailed him parts USPS Priority mail Nov 27 and it was last seen on Nov 28. No record since.

Re: Shipping delays

My business tracks end to end mail delivery timing and USPS 1st Class methods are taking an extra 5 days average to deliver. Priority is taking 1 extra day on average. But that’s just average - what is disturbing is a large percent take an extra 1-2 weeks, plus we are seeing more lost packages and deliveries to the wrong address.
UPS and FedEx aren’t as bad, but are obviously still delayed sometimes.

Re: Shipping delays

It's been going on for several months. I have a package from LMC that is stuck in the Des Moines dc hub. Three days out to PO then back to received at the hub. Not the first time.
FedEx and UPS have been better but slow. Between the current "crisis", new drivers, and more deliverys I don't see it getting better any time soon.

Re: Shipping delays

One thing I have noticed is that most of my packages that have been delayed were due to the shipping labels becoming unreadable during shipping. I had a gas tank sitting in limbo for days and I contacted the shipper thru their FB page. I gave them description of what it was and they found it in a bin with 100's of others that the label was damaged.

after I put a label on my packages I always put extra clear tape over everything except for the bar code. Post office has a hard time reading the bar code thru clear tape according to the girl at the counter.

FedEx/UPS cut off the major retailers for Christmas so the retailers are diverting to USPS to keep their own systems moving without clogging up. It is overload at the USPS because they won't turn you away but many trailers are sitting unopened at plants or taking joy rides from one plant to the next,
back & forth & so on ! Happy Holidays !

Re: Shipping delays

I ordered a present for my wife for Christmas, 2 identical items, both shipped the same day via fedex. Estimated arrival dates were a day apart (12/10 and 12/11) which I thought was odd. When it got close to the delivery dates, both estimates disappeared. The second package arrived a couple days later, the other still no date. Eventually a new estimate popped up of today (12/19). Then today the estimate disappeared again. Oy!
