drive shaft length
ok so I have a 350 that I have most of the parts to build and I am going to put it in my truck in place of the 250 I6, for now I am retaining the Saginaw 3 speed trans but am eventually going to put a 4 speed behind it. figured I could save up to get a good transmission once the truck is on the road and later on I could put a gearvendors over/underdrive unit in the truck. my question though is when the 350 gets bolted into the truck will I need to increase the length of my driveshaft or does the 350 sit far enough back that its not an issue? any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks |

Re: drive shaft length
I would leave the transmission in the original mounting spot and mount the 350 where it needed to go if that makes sense. I don’t play with two wheel drive trucks much, so I can’t tell you for sure which set of frame holes the engine crossmember would need to be in for it to work like this.
