They should screw in with a little coaxing. I use a 3/4" drive breaker bar, and a oversized socket on both upper and lower bushings. As long as your A-arms are in good shape they should screw in. If they don't then they've been damaged either by wear or by someone with a mallet who didn't know they screw in (hint hint).
