I manufacture the CS144 adapter bracket kit for guys running a GM serpentine setup-another option for everyone.

Wow, its been awhile. I swapped over to a single serp belt setup off a Camaro and used a bracket for the cs-144 for awhile. But I no longer have the CS-144. I have an AD-244 now.

Digging this up as well. I have an 88 and looking to upgrade to a higher output. I was told a 94 Buick Roadmaster Alt but it did not fit so I sent it back to Amazon. I didn't know the bracket needed modified. What notch is it? How do I convert to a better Alt? Mine has the Serpentine setup on the alt only

I ran the 144 alternator with pretty good success. I put in the Derale 16928 fans and they pull a LOT of power. I upgraded to a 170a single wire alternator from Summit. You can still use the CS plug for the dash light, but it no longer needs an exciter wire (load) to charge.
https://www.summitracing.com/parts/PWM-7864 I also increased the charge and ground wires. They are slightly larger than the starter cable. I don’t remember the exact size. At idle, the alternator wasn’t charging which can be a problem at long low RPM obstacles. I did some calculations with the charging RPM graphs and got a smaller puller (not by much) to have the alternator spin a little faster than stock. You HAVE to be aware of your top engine RPM and make sure the alternator spin speed does not reach its limit at the engines red line limit. My engine may hit 3500 OR 4000 RPM rarely, but that will spin the alternator at a max 8000 RPM, which is below the alternator’s red line. |

Good point about paying attention to the redlines of the accessories when you change the pulley ratios.
Your rad fans shouldn't run much with the exception of stop and go traffic. You can probably get away with the stock CS144. 8ga or 10ga charge wire from the ALT BAT terminal to the starter BAT terminal will work just fine. If you're really pulling that much power you can get the four terminal AD244 from 2005 and earlier that doesn't require control from the PCM.
