1968 Stepside 4X4, what’s wrong here?

Not sure what going on with the front end, 2 wheel drive converted? Front diff went out and replaced with a different one? Or is that factory

I'm thinking your VIN number starts with a "C" instead of a "K"

Re: 1968 Stepside 4X4, what’s wrong here?

Looks factory, but had some not so fabrication done to it for a poor mans lift in the front. Bottom of front frame rail does not look 2wd. Most people would not install the 2nd cross member under the trans. Period correct front axle. Any other pics to contribute?

I thought the 67 4X4 was the difficult one to lift. I had one that someone had cobbled up pretty bad.

Factory 4x4 chassis although what in the trailer park they did to the front springs
Looking again at the drivers side has extra funky bracing my guess is something broke on the dr side started all this funky bracing
Correct tranny cross member closed knuckle dana 44 is correct as well
I like the bondo queen flaking doors
