When you burn out with a non posi you will destroy shims and spider gears since they are being spun fast with little lube. They get nice and hot and yours may be blue by now. The reason your other tire started to spin was because the spider gears were probably starting to seize together or at least were grabbing due to lack of enough oil. If you have posi it wont hurt anything to do long burn outs. I have done 150 foot burn oputs with non posis but it gets lubed better if both wheels are moving a little. Besides, posi is so much more fun doing smoky donuts, lol.
