Tie Down Points
I'm about to start taking my truck to a few different places via a trailer to have some work finished up (upholstery, tune, etc.) I'll be using an enclosed trailer and it got me thinking about the best tie down location on the frame. I have been using the axle straps around the point where the axle bolts to the trailering arms in the rear and then going through the front loop on the lower control arms on the front. Works great, but it is a roll around on the floor of the trailer under the truck deal. I was wondering if anyone installed strap connection points on their frame (rings, etc.) to allow a quick and easy connection for tie downs. Any pics of what you used would be appreciated.
I am also curious about the best and easiest point to connect the winch to in the center. I have my method, but I am curious to learn what others do as it may be a much better option than what I am doing. I understand I will get roasted for having a trailer queen, but I would like the loading in the trailer to be a much easier process.

Re: Tie Down Points
The locations you're currently using work . Going above those means you'll be using the sprung suspension to hold it in place , Bad idea . Every bump or turn you'll be working the suspension against your tie down straps .

Re: Tie Down Points
Thank you Grumpy. I know my locations are good points now, but was trying to find a way to make it a real easy hook and go instead of crawling under and looping straps through and around and then hooking up straps to those. Something like this bolted to the bottom of the trailering arm u-bolt maybe.

Re: Tie Down Points
Like grumpy said. Anything below the suspension is the best. Rear axle tubes and front lower A-arms. You could consider using Wheel nets. You still have to worry about the bounce of the tire and losing air out of them. I see tow rigs using them all the time.
Using extra long tow hooks might be an option, but I think tire nets would be my first choice beyond your current method which is certainly the best way.

Re: Tie Down Points
Go take a look a U-Haul auto transport tie down straps. They work great. They front tire "nets" really capture the front tires. In the back the tires are located by the channels. They a safety chain for the back.

Re: Tie Down Points
I plan on getting these soon. I've personally talked to alot of people that use the wheel straps on a constant basis, and they've never had issues with the straps scuffing the wheels, and it's a very secure way t o strap a vehicle down.

Re: Tie Down Points
I plan to get the longer straps since I eventually plan to run 11" or 12" wheels.

Re: Tie Down Points
I appreciate all the input. I looked at the tire nets and don't think they will be any easier to install than laying under the front and hooking up my axle straps. Not a lot of room between the wall of the trailer and the front tire.
I guess I was asking more about installing an easy connection point on the frame where I could just clip on the strap each time without having to loop around or through something. I just ordered straps like the ones 68step posted without the axle strap as I already have those. I also ordered a y-strap to use with the winch so it will pull the truck straight in the trailer. Thanks again for the feedback. If anyone has installed something to their frame or suspension that allows the strap hook to clip on then please post a pic.
