Waiting for the combination valve to get here. Should have already been here by now. I'm not sure what happened. I think I'll call tomorrow and see.
One thing is for sure. It's done me good to get away from it for a few days. Although every time I walk by it, I get anxious. |

Also as a side note to 87 Stepper's comments, does the rear braking side of MP's Master Cylinder actually push enough "fluid volume" to fully compress the Seville calipers?
With a larger Piston Diameter you will need to be pushing more Fluid Volume.

George,
it is a disc/disc master. According the them, it is what I need. I'm no brake specialist for sure, but it is supposed to work. Something is not right somewhere. I don't think it's anything I'm doing although I have been wrong before. Not but some many things it can be. Damn combination valve didn't get here today either. I tried calling them but can't get in touch with the returns guy. I guess we had a misunderstanding or something. He was supposed to go ahead and send it, charge me for it, and then give me credit when they got the one I returned back. I guess we got our wires crossed or something. Oh well, I guess there's always next week. Mike |

Over at ck5 i've heard that making the pedal rod longer can do wonders...
Thanx for posting your experience as i'm searching for all the options...my 79 K5 is on jackstands as its time for rear brakes...so i allready have the SSB brackets and some front calipers w/out P/B....i'm assuming you bought your MC and prop valve from this mastercraft brake? Do they have a web site where i could order my M/C and prop valve from... Have you tried bleeding the system with a Mity Vac? Also grimy aka Grim Reaper has plenty of experience doing this swap...pm him and i'm sure he can help you... DW

I have access to a laser cutting machine, if you need the brackets cut out
send me a pattern...cardboard, ...or a drawing But, I allready have lots of brake brackets for a full floater, not sure which axle you are running I put disc on my 87 with metric calipers ( no ebrake ) and had the problem you describe. my answer was the combination valve. Bled the RF to transfer the ball back to center all is well............ good luck !! |

Are you sure at this point that all the teflon is out of the system? and that other 'pieces' didn't go down stream? Also there was never any mention of the master cyl push rod adjustment being checked.

I am having a simliar problem with my 64 with manual 4 wheel disc, Think I have figured it out tonight. I bought the power disc/disc master cylinder by mistake. I adjusted my rod in about 1/2 to 3/4 inch in and had great pressure then. I am going to drill a hole down from the current hole in the brake pedal tomorrow. Good luck

Mike - what rotors are you using? How thick are they? How far does the pad have to travel to contact the rotor? Does the pads contact the rotor pretty quick when the brakes are applied?

I definitely didn't have enough pedal movement. I moved the hole in the pedal down 1/2 inch and also moved the stop that the pedal rests against back 1/4-3/8 inch by cutting it out and rewelding. I have plenty of pedal and nice brakes now.
