12V to 1967 sunvisor
I've been searching the forum but no luck. My question is, Has anyone run power to a 67-72 sunvisor and if so how?
Opened one up to recover it and am thinking of adding a Homelink and phone mic to it.

Re: 12V to 1967 sunvisor
Well you be better off doing as I. Buy a Nissan rear view mirror with Home link and temperature & compass. I'm working on them now for my 71 C-10 and the 64 SS Impala to work with factory mounts. I have the one in my 71 now but it's mounted on the windshield. I waiting on a couple of parts I ordered to try. If it works out I plan to redo the 71 with the factory mount.
My ramp truck I ran the 3 Home link switch up to the drivers side visor under the windshield gasket. I have it mounted into the visor. The visor wasn't in that good of shape so I went for it.If you look close in the last picture you can see it on the visor.

Re: 12V to 1967 sunvisor
Thanks Andy for the ideas. I was trying to hide the wire as much as possible. I did manage to get a string from the dash to the sunvisor mount hole. Just didn't have a good idea how to hide the wires from that hole to the visor itself. So you rear mirror method for the wires may be the best option for me.

I'm not home so I can't get any pictures but will be there tomorrow. I hope to have the 64 SS Impala mirror mounted by this weekend with the Home Link and compass & temperature.

The visor's in the Ramp truck are not the best so cutting the drivers side wasn't a problem. I ran the wiring up the windshield gasket.

Re: 12V to 1967 sunvisor
I was going to run a wiring fish tape from the mirror mount area to the driver A-pillar and back to the B-pillar then use it to pull a piece of nylon tubing to the mirror from the sill plate area up the B-pillar.
This would allow you to route and protect wires for mirror power and map lighting.

Re: 12V to 1967 sunvisor
I could have done the wires to the back of the cab in the 71 but didn't want all that wire ran. The front post of the windshield is impossible to get wires through. I tried. You need the 12 volt supply wire to turn on/off with the key are the temperature & compass will stay on all the time unless you hit the button. The home link needs to be on a 12 volt hot all the time if you want to open the garage doors when the vehicle isn't running but I have both mine wired when only it running.
