Brake Light question

I have a 98 1500. I am having the same problem. This is the second time that I will have changed the brake light switch under the dash.. which is a pain I might add. I changed it the first time only 5 months ago. Anyone know why the switches keep burning out? What it does: If lightly tapped, the brake lights come on.. then as pressure is applied, the lights go off. Then at fully depressed, the lights come back on.
