69 stepside side mirrors

Does anyone know where I can find out what the stock side mirrors on a 69 Chevy Stepside looked like?

Try LMC catalog CB.37, Page 44, top right illustration. That's where I was able to get replacement mirrors for my 69 stepside.

Keep in mind though, the ones you buy won't be as suave as mine. Mine have character on them (rust).

Yep, that's what came on my truck, too. I think TX Firefighter put my truck in a Xerox machine (or did I copy his...I forget) Mine is the exact same color, same white bumper, same mirrors, same wheels (only mine have an extra lugnut each). But anyway, those are the mirrors I have, too.

Those guys sure look original, and I'm aiming to keep the look of my truck towards the classic, while souping up the mechanics.

I sure do like to see what's on my sides and rear, though, and thoes originals look pretty small. I saw one truck with big rectangular mirrors attached to the door with those sort of U-shaped brackets that connect at both ends. Looked like they give a big viewing area and a nice heavy-duty look.

Mine had the extra lugnuts when I got it, but I'm lazy, and tightening 6 lug nuts per wheel is too much trouble, so I converted it to 5 lug.

You wouldn't recognize the truck now. I spent the last few months giving it a facelift of sorts.

Those small round mirrors are a royal pita for todays driving. The next step up from the factory are the larger rectangular mirrors mounted on the lower door, and they are far better. A step above that was the junior west coast mirror, connected above and below the window frame.

I had a suspicion those round mirrors would be too small. I'm old and my eyes are failing as fast as the rest of my body, so I need all the help I can get seeing the road.

Where Can I find the west coast mirrors you mentioned?

BTW, I'm trying to sneak away to the shop the truck's in today to get some pix for the board.

Now that you mention it, I only have those mirrors on mine 'cause they are stock. I can't use them for $#!T. To compensate, I just have to turn around and LOOK out the back glass. Works most of the time.

here's a pic of the so-far mirror-less 69. The PO put a '70 (i think) grille on it which I'd like to replace with a stock piece. It's on blocks on its way to getting front discs.

I also want to undo the "customizing" he did to the front bumper. Don't know yet if I can straighten thinone out without ruining the chrome.

My '68 stepside came optioned with the West Coast Jr mirrors. I love 'em. Cops have a hard time sneaking up on me. Where to get new ones? Good question. I have seen some discussion about a few good sets in the parts forum here. A junkyard might have the basics then you could get a glass shop to cut you new glass. LMC doesn't carry them, but they do have the later tripod style. These have the advantage of not blocking your forward view behind the big mirrors like the West Coast Jrs.
JC Whitney sells a West Coast Jr style, it's not the GM RPO type, but they would work OK.

On the right side I use a fish eye miror you can get at any truck stop. They are the same size as the original round ones and I think they bwork great

Here is a pic of the 70 mirror. They are larger than the small round 69's and they work pretty good.

Just a thought.

Yah, those 70 mirrors look nica and workable and would go well with th look of the 69. I'd sure like to see a pic of the West coast Jr. Mirrors though.
