motor swap mount question
Hello,
1965 c10 inline 230 (Bad motor been bored over too many times) I was finally able to source a replacement motor for my 65. The motor is from a 1978 c10 inline 250 (Good running motor) Forgive my lack of understanding of motor mounts but I am a bodywork guy trying to learn. The mounts look very different. With the 78 mount sit on the stock perch? Will the 65 mounts fit the 78? What is the best way to mount this motor? thanks |

Unbolt the 65 mounts from the block and bolt em to the new motor.

thanks, looking at the block its the same pattern so that makes a lot of sense.
next question.... does anyone have a pic of how the mounts go on? Orientation/bolt wise? Ive ordered me factory assembly manual but waiting on the post office. I took everything about down to frame. So now just which direction everything faces?? |

Glad you got it sorted. My '64 had a 230 and a 350 bolted with new motor mounts without changing anything. In case you go that route later. I think 63 on same mounts for V8 and I6?????

For 63-66, the v8s and the 230 and 250 straight 6s used the same frame stands. The 292 straight 6 used the same driver's side stand, but the passenger side was different. GM used different stands for straight 6 or v8s on the 67-72 trucks

OK think I found the answer to my motor mount fiasco ,my drivers side is allmost lined up ,but the pass. side is way off. This truck must of had a 292 in
it at one time.Bought it with the 350 installed and have been finding all kinds of suprises. The towers are welded to the frame plus I found the drivers mount allso has a 1/2" spacer between the mount and tower
