I've always thought that the bed rails strongly resembled the roof racks on Suburbans. My Suburban has a smooth roof, but you might take a look.

I believe the mounting hardware is identical, rails are longer but I suppose they can be shortened.

That is a killer little truck! Ive always liked the '83 & '84 base model grille....almost like a custom or billet. Im pretty sure you've got cool covered on both ends of the Squarebody spectrum.

Yeah it is the perfect truck to mess with and not feel bad about it (will keep me from tearing into the 87.....). It's 1984 Custom Deluxe, bare bones 250 6 cyl/ 3 OTT/ manual steering and brakes... :LOL. But it is virtually rust free and straight with original paint. The odometer reads 10K, and looking at the shape everything is in, 110K seems about right. That's the main reason I bought it.

Little history on the truck, it's originally from MS. A friend bought it to play with about a year ago. He did quite a bit of stuff to it, new steelie wheels (15x10/15x8) and tires, 4/6 lowering kit with shocks, new bumpers, windshield, headlights/taillights, gas tank. Put new carpet in it, had seat and dash recovered to match the TMI door panels etc. A couple of months ago, he sold his house and had no place (or time) to work on it so he offered it up to me. Plan is to finish the interior and a few other things and ride it as is for now.

I got one of those too! Found this little cream puff up in North Arkansas.
1986 custom deluxe. Same wheels and tires, and drop as yours. V6 with a 4 speed. She has some hard and dirty miles on her. I spent about three hours under it with a press washer. Were putting a 6.0/4l80 eBay turbo on it.

That will be fun! I wish mine had the V6, or a least the 4 speed, .

Funny you should mention that. I picked this lil creampuff up last year. 67K mile 1984 custom deluxe, has a straight 6 like yours and 3 on the tree shifting. The ONLY option it has is AC and it still works. Heck it doesn't have a radio or a cig lighter. But it gets driven a lot. Used to be the parts delivery truck for a dealer in Clarksville.

Will LS this one soon as well, but won't put a whistler on it.

AC on that combo is pretty rare. I need to find a nice 6.0/4L80 for mine, well at least I would start there...
