starter problems???? I think
been cruising last 2 night in a row and when i shut my truck off it wont start after unless i get a boost. So saturday i checked the charging system and everything turns out ok there i had one loose wire on the alternator i fixed. after i had all the charging fixed and it still wouldnt start i tapped the starter and it started fine. now i have not been cruising all day today (sunday ) and the truck is running fine and starts everytime. anyone know what this would be ? maybe because its so hot out?
thanks

sounds like your starter might be on its way out or its getting heat soaked from headers or exhaust

He's right. If you are running headers, you should visit your friendly local Auto Zone type of store and get the heat shield that goes on the solenoid. If it is your starter, then get one and put it on when you change it out.
Also, lean fuel mixtures cause hotter combustion temps. I found this little tidbit when I went to a different carb and all of a sudden, I had heat soak problems with my starter, when I'd been driving it for 2 years without any problems. Put the heat shield on it, and it hasn't missed a beat in 3 years.
