late style alt. hookup
My 72 is starting to get cranky about not being my daily driver this summer. The latest tantrum has been the lights flickering bright, then dim and battery not getting charged up. Rather than replace voltage regulator {which I belive to be bad based on hitting it with a pair of pliers and watching my headlights get bright}, I have decided to go to an internal alternator. Now I can't find the note I used to have telling me how to wire it in. Anyone got this one memorized? As usual, thanks in advance

HMMMM ... SEEMS TO ME (I'M STRICKEN WITH THE DREADED C.R.S DISEASE) THAT YOUR VOLTAGE REG HAS 4 WIRES GOING INTO IT. STARTING FROM THE TOP...... JUMP #1 WITH #3 & JUMP #2 WITH #4 . I'M GOING BY MEMORY HERE, & MY MEMORY IS NOT SO PRETTY GOOD, BUT I'M PRETTY SURE THIS IS WHAT WORKS. QUICK SOMEBODY CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG JOHN

^ Looks right to me. Hook the ground wire to the alt case, get the plug for the new alt w/pigtails and wire it the same as your old one (wire colors should be the same).

alternator
Just did this friday night. These guys have it right. My conversion plug had 2 wires in it. The little ( white one) wire goes to a switched 12v source.

So Ol' Blue's got electrical problems now, too? Just walk over to the '67, point at it, and explain that this is what happens to trucks that don't know their place!
