Emergency Brake Cable Question
As many of you know I have been looking for rear e-brake cables for quite some time. I finally found some, but the overall length of the cable is two inches longer than my original. The conduit length is the same. Are the two extra inches going to be a problem? Is there a way to make up for these two extra inches or should I have someone crimp another end-deally-thing two inches from the end of the cable? You guys and gals are the best ......thanks....John

I have shortened brake cables by cutting and recrimping a fitting on the end. I make my own fittings cutting a 3/8 rod to length and through drilling with a drill bit that is the same size as the cable. If you squeeze the fitting in a large vise and hit it with a dull chisel, it will hold very well.

Some hardware stores carry cable crimp fittings.
