Re: My truck got paroled from paint prison today
The trouble with paint jail is that if you aren't willing to pay the same level as typical collision work it could sit there a long time. Most collision work is remove the old parts and install the new that fit. Not to say a lot of skill isn't involved but not hours of block sanding. No one at the body shop is standing in line to do hours and hours of making the panels straight that weren't straight from the factory.
By the way it looks great. |

Re: My truck got paroled from paint prison today
Right!
In my case it had more to do with space than anything. Small shop had room for bed (although the Hood, Valence, Front Fenders & Doors were actually prepped first) then I swapped out cab/chassis when I picked up the bed.... This also gave me the time to finish mechanical restoration as I went through all of it. (K20 w/Fuel injected 502, 4L80E, NP205, 6" lift and on and on and on....) Updated the paint to base coat clear coat as well... I really like your glove box door/camaro emblem idea - nice touch! |

That really does look great. "Paint prison" LOL! It's true though isn't it. That really looks sharp. Gives me hope for my primer grey jalopy.
Edit: That glove box emblem is cool. Looks clean. |

Re: My truck got paroled from paint prison today
Thanks, I'm really happy with how it turned out. There's still some primer there as you can see in this picture. I didn't get the bed done yet
