Those are so HUGE !!
I do like them. Would not work here in the UK as some of our roads are not as long or wide as this car.

Amazing! What a score. Please post a bunch of pictures when you get time. I love looking at these time capsules. I just picked up an '86 this summer with only 56k miles on the clock. I know how excited you must be.

Many, many miles as a boy riding in the middle seat of a truck that looked just like that. That's going to be fun for you. Take your time cleaning it up, and enjoy every minute of it.

Re: Barnfind today...heading to my shop now...
I misread the speedo reading...gettin old... it is 42141 miles...not 47000 as I originally listed....
Waiting on new fuel tank and pump and kit for carb...engine turns over fine, good compression,,,, Am going to change trans and diff oils...then replace all the brakes and flex lines... A nice Winter project for me....

Re: Barnfind today...heading to my shop now...
Of all the square bodies I have owned and seen,
I have not noticed a Trailering Special. Rare find I like it. .

Re: Barnfind today...heading to my shop now...
I believe the Z82 option is fairly rare, and have done some research on it...
I believe the option was more of a marketing option than a performance or capability option. The Z82 trailering special package, which was introduced just after the start of the '73 model year, included the "Trailering Special" nameplate, power steering, and a heavy duty battery. The package also usually required (but did not include) the purchase of other options, including heavy duty cooling (i.e. a larger radiator), and possibly engine and transmission oil coolers. In earlier years, the transmission oil cooler and the trailer hitch were available ONLY as dealer accessories. From the 1973 to 1981 model years, the trailering special option was available on essentially all C/K10/20/30 pickups, Blazers, and Suburbans with V8 engines and automatic or 4-speed manual transmissions. I believe that the Z82 package was not at all special in terms of content. Virtually anything included or required in/by the purchase of the package was available separately, except the actual nameplate itself. In fact, throughout much of the 1973 to 1979 GM "inside" dealer literature, the Z82 package was referred to as the "Trailering Special Nameplate" option. As I understand it, 454-optioned trucks already came bundled with power steering, heavy duty battery, cooling, etc, the Z82 option only added the obligatory nameplate. I believe that the Z82 option was actually listed as a "no cost" option, and added a nominal weight of "0 lbs" to the curb weight of the vehicle! The 13,000 lb plate on this Burb suggests, a 454/3.73 axle powertrain, I will confirm axle ratio when I am under there performing the rear gear oil change.

Re: Barnfind today...heading to my shop now...
Just out of curiosity how stupid was the price. All of a sudden the squares have jumped in price with the brand new trucks fetching upwards of 100k. Guess it's cheaper to buy a truck for 10g and put another 20 into it restoring

Re: Barnfind today...heading to my shop now...
I cleared $12 k on the buy / sell process...
I spent around $200 in parts to get it driveable...couple of weekends work... Currently have a lead on a 79 Short bed stepper....usual rust,,,, but it runs and will drive if you don't mind it not having any brakes... Couple weeks will tell....
