55.2-59 Restomod vs Vintage Air A/C?

Looking to put A/C in my 59 and wanted everyone's opinion on which A/C they would go with and why.

i would strongly suggest vintage air, great products and they sell a kit that adapts the original dash controls in your dash to their units, even have new repalcement controls if yours are missing,

I went with "Old Air" on mine for the inside kit because they claim you get to keep more of your glove box. I have an electric compressor and remote condenser with fan (Rencool from Australia). The compressor uses return gases to cool it. The compressor unit is self contained, waterproof and about the size of a Mason jar. It will go between the frame rails. You just run your regular trigger wire to it. Along with electric P/S it will keep my engine compartment clean and make more room for important things like blower and dry sump.

I ended up going with Old Air, but it's personal choice. It works great and has controls like OEM. And yes I have a glove box as well. I think if you search you'll find a thread on the subject. If I remember it was split pretty evenly between the two.

Another vote for Old Air here. I've been running the Old Air "Hurricane" series in my 66 and have nothing but good things to say. Performs very well, uses original style/location for controls, get to keep your glovebox and they offer model specific kits.

Are you referring to the kick panel vents? with the Oldair systems those are retained. I cannot speak for any other vendors but I'm sure their websites have info on this or others may chime in.

I have the Vintage Air system and I have kept my passenger side vent, no problem.

There was a square plate above that passenger vent that I believe was part of the fresh air system for trucks having original A/C. That does gets covered.

With Restomod you can customize to what you want. Pick out all your components and piece it together. Vintage air is a one and done package deal.

The Restomod setup seems to be a basic unit at a friendly price to get your attention and then you add components to make it a complete system Most of the Vintage Air and Old air units are a complete package from the get go.

Both Vintage and Old Air have built vehicle specific systems since the 70's or 80's I am not sure when Restomod got started.

I used vintage air components and put the system together myself rather than using their vehicle specific kit. This enables you to do what you like if not staying with the stock dash etc..
