Does anyone know where I can find the original style headlight relay or know the AC Delco/ Delco Remy part number? It's on a 72.

Do you mean the high/low beam foot switch?
There is no headlight relay from the factory.

That is the voltage regulator for the charging system. There is some recent discussion including adjustment and quality of replacements here http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=820074. It's possible to clean it up and paint it and restore the interior by burnishing the contacts and adjusting.

thats definitely the voltage regulator what problem are you having that you thought you need to change a headlight relay

Thanks for all the replies, not having a problem with lights, just doing some clean up under the hood.

Use a wirebrush on the outside and spraypaint your Voltage Regulator in satin black. If it works well -- charges battery and limits alternator overrun -- then don't mess with the internals. They were built to be adjustable, but without the proper set up and knowledge, it's too easy to mess it up. New replacement VRs are junk. Keep the old one if it works.

glad everything is working but you can get rid of the regulator by going with a more modern alternator if you really wanted it clean

I bought a new voltage regulator, from Napa, and and swapped the cases and reinstall on truck. Just trying to keep the truck looking natural.
