71 C10 Manual Transmission Mount

Having a hard time finding transmission mounts for a 71 C10 with 307 motor with a standard transmission (3 on tree). I’m thinking of just putting the original mounts back on, even though the rubber is dried out and they are showing their age.

I talked with Tech at LMC and he indicated there seems to be an after market mount that does not resemble this part at all. If any members have replaced them and remember where you got them, it would be great to know. I did a search here and did not find any info relating to these mounts. They are on a crossmember, one on each side, the mounting block resembles a “C” with a large center hole that sits on a hole in the crossmember and two bolt holes in the mount for securing to the transmission.

Does the same mount work for both manual and automatic transmissions? Parts sites don't seem to distinguish or ask if manual or automatic, and only show one mount, and that appears to mount on the center of the crossmember. Not sure how that would bolt to the transmission though. Any help or info appreciated.

They should be available at any parts store. The same one was used for many years. There is also a small mount that goes underneath the frame. There is a bolt & spacer sleeve that holds it all together. Often they have fallen out & are missing. The auto tans models are different.

Thanks Grumpy & George, will search around. Wonder why they are called an engine mount. Looks like you have to drill and tap new holes for bolting on.

You don't have to drill and tap anything , The bolt and sleeve you re-use the old ones . These mounts are only used on the stock type bell housing . the bolt size is 1/2 x 18 x 3 1/2" .

Just for general knowledge the 6 cyl and V8 manual cross members are different and mounted in different positions .

I found them under rear engine mount, since manuals are not mounted to a cross member, they just bolt to the bell housing, which is resting on said rear engine mounts. You can see it very good in Grumpy's pic. That's why when you search for trans mounts, all that comes up are mounts for automatics.

Resurrection of this one, I need to replace the clutch on my 3 speed and I am going to do the gaskets on the gear box while I am at it. Looking under there planning and I see the transmission mounts have a little clip on them. I guess it's designed to keep the bolts from backing out. How do I get those bolts to back out of that mount do I remove the clip somehow?

Just flatten the tab that's bent up (down?) against the bolt head.. Remove the bolt with a conventional wrench or socket.. The bolt threads directly into the bell housing ear..
