3600 Camper Idea
Hi all,
I'm not part of the Advance Design world yet. But am interested in finding a 3600 in the coming months and then longer term building a camper. So in the meantime I've worked up a Photoshop rendering of what I'm thinking. Note these are NOT my trucks (my apologies to anyone's photo I may have used). Hoping this inspires someone to build before me. When I do get around to this I'm going to be as lightweight as possible (i.e. that door won't be part of it! - just having fun).

Re: 3600 Camper Idea
Here's the camper some friends had built for their 53 3100 by a local RV shop a few days after my students finished the truck for them. I painted it about 37 years ago.
The truck now belongs to a former student who has removed the camper.

Re: 3600 Camper Idea
I like how that back door would just open big and wide...something to think about there...

You can never go wrong with Steve McQueens camper. Sold on ebay a few years ago.

Re: 3600 Camper Idea
That would be reasonably simple to duplicate.
The camper on the orange truck is a slide in. It has a double bed that runs across it with storage under the bed and enough room to move around behind the bed. We built the truck for them, they had the camper built and took off on a 10,000 mile road trip with it that lasted several months.

That's fantastic! I have a newly acquired '50 3600 and I was thinking the same thing! Was tossing around some kind of an art deco theme... But yea, would love to try some travelling in the old girl....... The bed length in a 3600 is a goofy 87". Better to find a 3800 with the longer bed like the McQueen example. Steve weim55 Colorado |

Re: 3600 Camper Idea
Just got done checking out a full article on the McQueen Camper rig. That is quite the machine and super clean original truck to boot...............
Good inspiration, now I really have the wheels turnin' in my head for 3600 road adventure..... Steve weim55 Colorado |

Re: 3600 Camper Idea
haha thats a nice mock up. I dont think that double door is based in reality (it would only be about 20" wide in real life) and if you sat on the floor and stretched out your arms your wrists would be out the side windows, but if I saw that rolling down the road I would still want it.

[QUOTE=eyebuzz;8359301]Hi all,

So in the meantime I've worked up a Photoshop rendering of what I'm thinking. Been thinking about this idea since you posted. I wondered if I might ever be able to find old or damaged stainless Air Stream trailer and slice it up into a camper for the 3600. What do you think of that? Care to photo shop that idea?? Thanks, Steve weim55 Colorado |

Re: 3600 Camper Idea
Hi All - funny I discovered my post again because the 3100/3600/3800 bug bite me again and I was looking online at photos and my mock up came up. Thanks to those that did reply. And hope someone found something useful there - if only inspiration.
