Paint Identification

Looking for some help with identifying the paint code for my truck. Unfortunately the SPID does not have a paint code on it. I spoke with the PO who said he painted it using Imron in the original color(?) which he said was Red/Orange but he did not have a paint code. I thought it was a little odd since the interior trim package is red. But from what I can tell all of the nooks and crannies where he didn't paint match what he did paint. Any suggestions would be appreciated since I have a few nicks, etc that I would like to touch up.

Re: Paint Identification

I thought perhaps "Z18AB" might refer to a "special paint" code. But then I see this truck's build sheet, (and here's a closeup view of another 1970 Fremont-built chevy for lining up the code and numbers) which has the same notation on its build sheet (even the numbers following the code), but also lists black as the color. Do you know what option that first line refers to?

It is odd that nothing is listed for paint...perhaps you have special paint, or perhaps it is in fact red orange. Here are the standard paint options in 1970.

Re: Paint Identification

Could have been a commercial fleet truck painted in a special ordered paint color combo. My stepson found out this was the case and is going through the same thing with his 1970 C-10 too.

Re: Paint Identification

My truck only states special paint . Even the build sheet has no reference to color code. I had the interior checked with a spectrophotometer. At my paint shop came back as Placer Gold

Re: Paint Identification

Thanks for the input. After the summer I think I am going to redo the foam in the seat. Maybe I'll get lucky and find a build sheet?

Re: Paint Identification

with a mirror and a flashlight you should be able to see if there is one there right now - it's usually trapped above the lower springs, readable side facing down so you can "kinda" see it. Might not be able to read it but at least you'd know it's there waiting on you for when you get to rebuilding the seat foam.

Re: Paint Identification

The PO did the interior and unfortunately there is no build sheet between the foam and the springs.

I'm looking at this SPID and am curious about the font. Did Flint use this font? Mine is sans serif, FWIW. Fremont built. I couldn't find the SPID thread for comparison purposes, for some reason.
