HELP! Will this seat fit?
I am about to get a bench seat out of a 98 Tahoe but I want to make sure it will fit in my 68 GMC 1/2 ton.. Has anyone done or know of anyone that has done this swap? I just want to know if it will fit and how high it will sit up... Thanks everyone for the help! Keep on Truckin...

August 2004 Classic Trucks Magazine
Yes.
There are several pages in this issue that is entitled: Late-Model Seats That Fit. Starts on page 80, ends on page 88. It has widths of quite a few seats that you can find in a junkyard. The subject truck was their Old School style 64-66 Chevy that has a GMC grille, that has been a magazine subject for several months. The stock seat is 58 inches wide, which I believe is also what the 67-72's are. The 88-94 bench seat w/integrated arm rest is also 58 inches wide, as are the 95-98's. It was stated in the article, that 88-98 GM truck seats of any configuration, are the easiest to retrofit into a 60-72 GM truck. Says you may have to elongate a hole, but it sets on the floor without any additional help needed. Many have used those seats in their trucks, and I am looking for one, too. There is also an article on replacing the hinge pins and bushings for the doors. The June issue had an article on rebuilding the doors, i.e., weatherstripping, door glass regulators, door handles and latches, etc.

take a ruler and measure it is the normal way to determine if a seat will fit into a vehicle no magazine required
