Re: Lets get this LS 5.3 running!

I think I got this 95% figured out. Making another push to get this running soon!

I am planning to do a Wrangler fuel tank and blazer sending unit. I see most guys use the EP381 fuel pump. However, this Delco HP 10004 sending unit comes with a fuel pump.
https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...060579&jsn=481

Will this fuel pump work, or should I get the sender without pump and EP381?

Thanks

What kind of pressure is that putting out? If it’s for an ls based vehicle it’ll prolly work. Just gotta make sure it’s the right depth.

Re: Lets get this LS 5.3 running!

I pulled the specs for what vehicles the EP381 pump goes in. The pump in the Delphi unit is for the same vehicles as the ep381. Same specs. 32 gph, 60 psi. Going to give it a try.

Does the Wrangler tank have internal baffles?

Well, #$@&. Others that have used the wrangler tank say that it is baffled. They're NOT!

Now what? Does it really need a baffle? Is there a way to add one?

Well no serious experience other than reading. Baffles help with hard cornering and keep gas in the pump when the level gets lower. Some GM pumps recirculate fuel into a sort of cup at the bottom of the pump assembly so that the pump will have access to fuel. Hope that makes sense.

Re: Lets get this LS 5.3 running!

I've used non-baffled tanks on my early LS swaps. I just made sure I didn't run the tank too low. The down side to starving a fuel injected engine of fuel is they typically shut off like a light switch when the pick up is uncovered.

If the sender/pump assembly sits in a tub inside the tank bottom, then it’s fine. The tub will stay full of fuel. I’ve had my Jeep on plenty of off camber surfaces and it’s never starved for fuel.

Re: Lets get this LS 5.3 running!

There is no tub on the fuel sender. Originally, I have a camaro pump in a mustang tank that I got with this engine. However, I cant fit the filler tube under the bed floor. The reason I decided to switch to the wrangler tank was to use a remote fill tube mounted in the fender.

I'm thinking, either I use the mustang tank and raise the bed floor a few inches to cover the filler tube. Or, I attach a sump cup to the fuel sender.

I'm also thinking about using the evap system. I can't stand gas fumes in the garage. Also, with the mustang tank, and low filler, there is really no where to run a vent line higher than the tank.

Re: Lets get this LS 5.3 running!

Lots of folks have been known to fab a tub around the pickup sock and zip it on.
