Blazer/Suburban Tank in C10

Has anyone mounted a K5 Blazer / Suburban tank under the bed of their truck? I have bought the 31 gallon tank and was just curious what everyone did to route the fill neck. The fill neck on the tank is going to point towards tbe inside of a framerail and offset to one side. It kind of irks my OCD. I would prefer for it to be center.

I mounted one in my 77 k10 short box. I'll be working on the fuel filler in the next week or 2.

Looks good! How do you plan to route it?

Should be able to use the stock Suburban hose and weld in a new filler in the rear fender. Do it right and no one would know or at least catch it right away.

Re: Blazer/Suburban Tank in C10

I'll probably cut the neck off the tank so I can route it into the bed

Re: Blazer/Suburban Tank in C10

Might take a bit of "plumping" and cutting a couple holes with a hole saw, but I would pick up a "fold down" licence plate assembly from a early 70's Chevy full size car and route the filler neck behind that.

To be honest I'm not sure yet, when I get my box back on I'm just going to figure it out as I do it. I'll use a stock filler on the outside, but I'm pretty sure that the plumbing won't fit between the inner and outer box sides, so I will have to fab up some sort of cover in the box for the fill tube to be at the right angle. I have a feeling that I can make it look ok, but I don't see it filling at full speed. We shall see.

Re: Blazer/Suburban Tank in C10

With a bit of eyeballing, and measuring, my fuel filler install went well. It ended up being a straight shot to the tank, it looks like it has good fall, so it should fill well.

Re: Blazer/Suburban Tank in C10

Old thread, but I'm thinking of using suburban tank I have in my 65 C10. If it could be done, I would like to run the filler out on the driver's side.
.
I guess one of my concerns has always been the exhaust pipe in proximity to the tank.
