Re: Oil Guage Pressure?

Same engine in my truck, that looks like mine when I'm running it. It still pegs cold, and now that it has ~120k miles on the rebuild, it's a little below the midline, which if it is a 60# gauge, is 30 psi.

Re: Oil Guage Pressure?

My fresh rebuilt 350 gauge pegs out when cold and runs about where your is when warmed up. Idle is about ½

Re: Oil Guage Pressure?

I would buy a good mechanical gauge and compare it to the factory gauge. Your gauge is what about 50+ years old.

Re: Oil Guage Pressure?

I don't think accuracy of the gauge is important. The important part is that you have good oil pressure. Normal for the pressure to drop when the oil warms up. My worn out engine would show similar to OP's when cold (20w-50) then drop to middle of gauge when driving and about 1/3 mark idling.

Re: Oil Guage Pressure?

You can blow compressed air (regulated) into an oil gauge and check them for accuracy. Most likely a 60 lb gauge which in the middle is 30 psi.

What I see looks like 50 lbs of oil pressure. I do agree with checking it against a different gauge. I do trust Autometer products for comparison.

I assume all is well but just wanted to verify.
