proportioning valve/brake warning light question
I bled my brakes last weekend, but I didn't know about the pin at the front of the proportioning valve so my brake light is on. Is there a faster way to get the light to turn off or do I have to rebleed the whole braking system again?

Re: proportioning valve/brake warning light question
Breadstick, I had the same problem when I replaced the dash lights with led's. Brake warning light had been on for who knows how long. This is the easiest fix I have done on my 67 shortstep so far. Remove the wire to the sending unit under the prop valve. Remove the sender with an open end wrench. 5/8 ? Stomp on the brakes hard several times. Put the sending unit back in and tighten. Put the wire back on and DONE. Easier to do than to type the directions.

Re: proportioning valve/brake warning light question
It could be some air still in the system as well. A stuck valve is a possible yea but it could be uneven brake pressure. Just throwin that out there. If you got
drum brakes go thru and make sure they are still adjusted up good after bleeding. They could of setteled during bleeding and messed wit it being done completely. If they are loose adjust them and try bleeding one more time. A small possiblity but it is a option. Try bleeding the master cyinder itself to insure it doesnt have a small amount of air |

Re: proportioning valve/brake warning light question
Stomp on the brake pedal REAL hard. That usually does the trick.
