I ended up pulling the harness' dual purpose for the right sending wire connector, and can say the replacement fits much better due a longer housing slot. I put the bottom kickdown clip on the same line as the top one. Don't know if it's right, but I think it looks clean, the clips are happy, nice slack and the wires off stuff. Timing is everything, this would have taken me forever if at all - I was "going around the block to get next door". Turns out my 72 was closer to right, when it's not SO HOT I'll pull it off the housing & hang it. The wiring in that truck is a little touchy. Doesn't help the cab is naturally vented.
