RedHead steering box. Do I have a problem?

Having nothing to compare it too wanted to ask those that have a RedHead steering box a question.

My box has a very noticeable 'hard spot' at the straight ahead position when cycling it from left to right. It also sounds quite noisy.

Suspension is fully built with all steering components attached, apart from the steering column, and both wheels attached.

It doesn't feel, or sound right to me, but before I get in touch with the RedHead guys wanted to ensure that I have a problem rather than just not being used to how it should sound and feel.

Thanks,

P.

Without the vehicle/engine being on lift your front end so you can just turn the wheels left to right all the way. Restart the vehicle and check fluid level. You may have air in the system and that helps.

Thanks for the reply Chief.

Bit of clarity, this is a manual box. Going to get one of my boys to video what I am talking about so I can post it up.

Re: RedHead steering box. Do I have a problem?

I have a Redhead manual box on my '64 and it's smooth and quiet. I'm sure they'll help you. I do recommend you call as oppose to email as they seemed to me to be a bit "old school" like that. When I emailed for tech support, they responded in a timely fashion by asking me to please call.

Re: RedHead steering box. Do I have a problem?

Update.

Spoke to Brad at RedHead and he has confirmed that it will be slightly stiff in order for it to bed in over the first few hundred miles.

Thanks for the advice to call them Dave.
