Couple of spid questions

Are chrome hubcaps the small size or the full wheel cover?

And what is 4001 PC bottom of the left hand column?

Spid in question ... Thanks

Re: Couple of spid questions

Not sure of the PC but mine has 4001DB . Told it's for special order paint.

When I see hubcaps I always think dog dish

Yup, about the paint. "Hub Cap" is little, covers the hub. "Wheel Cover" is big, covers the wheel.

Re: Couple of spid questions

The 4001 explains the paint color I had difficulties identifying early on. I do know its 525 Saddle Polly a 1969 color. I'm pretty sure I have all the original paper work for this Burb, Ill have to dig it up and see if its mentioned on there somewhere. I never looked for it the first time I bought it.

I agree on the caps, small ones. It did have full wheel covers on it when I bought it back when. But a lot can happen in all the years since new.

Re: Couple of spid questions

Even my build sheet had no mention of the actual color code . My interior firewall and bed are original paint . I had the paint guy gun it to determine the actual color

Re: Couple of spid questions

Here's what I remember from an old post about the full wheel covers.

They always talk about P01 hubcaps

So I was reseaching and found this awhile ago.

Re: Couple of spid questions

4001 is a Special Paint Code, means a Suburban, in this case, was delivered with a paint that wasn’t offered without special paint order. It is usually another GM color or sometimes a special fleet paint for business. Saddle Poly wasn’t offered in 72 on trucks, but I’m not sure about whether or not it was an option for the Burb in question in your post. P01 is the full wheel cover, PO3 is the smaller chrome hub cap.

Re: Couple of spid questions

My buddy is re-painting a 69 its original saddle polly. When you hold the burbs glove box door and ashtray next to it its an exact match.

He's scoured his 72 paint charts and nothing is close. This is how I came up with saddle polly. I admit it does seem weird you can order a paint from a few years back.
