73-87 Classifieds

Is there not a 73-87 Trucks for sale section?

O.K. when I looked there before I thought it was '72 and older. I'm surprised there are more '72 and older for sale than there are '73 and up.

I look through it from time to time and I am shocked too that they almost no 73-87’s listed. Maybe most of them rusted out and the 1972 and back were better protected against rust?

There's a lot more 73-87 trucks around than 67-72. In my neck of the woods, they're constantly on marketplace, and frequently on the road. It's difficult to drive five miles without passing one or two squarebody's on the road or in someone's driveway.

A sale platform(like this one) can shift in focus to something it wasn't intended. For example, if someone wants to sell a square, they look through this classifieds section, and don't see any squares, so they sell it elsewhere. Likewise, a buyer doesn't see any squares on these classifieds, so he looks somewhere else as well. It's a self-perpetuating cycle that's difficult to break. There's no square buyers on this platform because there's no square sellers. And vice-versa.

I bought my 77 Suburban and my 85 from the classifieds here . I had always assumed it was for all years just like the general section

Heck, I'm always shocked how few 73-87 parts get listed for sale on here, or really, how few posts there are in comparison to the 67-72 side of things.

I've looked at the other 73-87 forums and they don't seem all that great either. Guess square body owners don't waste time on the computer. haha.

There are tons of squarebody groups on facebook. I've bought all sorts of parts from those groups or marketplace. I guess that's where people go first to sell stuff.

Different group of people that are enthused about each style, I'd guess.

Probably the Boomers and Gen-X folks are more interested in the 67-72 trucks, and they're members of forums that mostly predated Facebook.

In contrast, the 73-87 trucks have the biggest following among the Millennials and Gen-Z kids. They've grown up using Facebook, so that's their default platform.

Re: 73-87 Classifieds

Also this site is called 67-72chevytrucks.com.

Square sure have blown up in the last 10-15 years. When i started on here i wanted a 72 but could not afford one so i compromised on my old 84. When i found out how much easier parts were to source and how much cheaper good parts and square body trucks were i converted. Never did get a 72….

Granted the site is called 67-72chevytrucks, but it caters to pre 47 clear up to present. My quess is, that the site expanded over time, but it wasn’t worth changing its website name.

I have never been able to get the hang of it on Facebook. It just seems like a lousy platform for serious info. Unless I am doing something wrong, there is no real way to search like on the various forums.
