Did all tailgates have painted letters?
Did tailgates without the trim band always have painted letters? My '72 Blazer does not have the painted letters. It's original paint (what's left of it) and has the Hickey swinging spare carrier and roll bar. I bought it from the original owner, and he said the Hickey items were installed options done at the dealership. If the tailgates all came with painted letters, I'm trying to figure out if the dealer painted over the letters due to the spare carrier covering up half of them. Or maybe they all didn't come painted from the factory?

Re: Did all tailgates have painted letters?
Thanks geunther, that's what I was looking for. The posts that I found from searching seemed to all have painted letters, even on the trucks without tailgate trim. My Blazer has the tail light trim and tailgate trim, no tailgate band, and letters are not painted. So now I'm curious what determined at the factory which ones were painted or not painted.

Re: Did all tailgates have painted letters?
Found a pic when it had original paint. This would have been 1982. Not the best pic but I think the paint would show up if it was there.
