frame widths

As it relates to rear step bumper and receiver hitch mounting, Are the rear frame rails the same width between 2 and 4 wheel drives?

I believe the frame widths are the same from 67-72 at the rear. Where you run into difficulty with hitches is ---the bumper mounts and if you have a rear fuel tank like Blazers/Burb's. With the sport bumper, your side mounts come into conflect with any side mounting hitches. Not a big problem but you may need to do some drilling and cutting to make them fit. I'm looking at the same thing so and hope to find a hitch that requires minimal @#rigging.
