Re: Serpentine Conversion Help

I know this is an old thread but I'm wanting to install a serpentine set on my 454. Will the vintage air compressor work with this setup?

What compressor are you using? R4 or Sanden?

I can take some more pics of my set up if you want. I think the only issues would be if you used tall valve covers.

I'm not 100% sure which comes with the Vintage air kit. I've read that the R4 unit is not a preferred choice. Is that so?

From my experience that is correct.

I don't know what the linking rules are on here but if you search for "AS-SANDEN-R4-KIT" it adapts a sanden compressor to the r4 bracket.

Ok, so we’re doing this conversion right now and trying to find a bracket because we’re not gonna drill the head. I know this was a long time ago, but do you remember where you got that bracket coming off the water pump?

Re: Serpentine Conversion Help

I called Vintage Air when I added A/C to an early 350 that I put a 80's era serpentine system on. They said no problem sent me the parts. They sent some adapter brackets to convert my serpentine setup from an R4 to Sanden.

So in short its worth a call and talk with them directly. I'm sure you are not the first one to do this with one of their kits.

Are you referring to the support rod?

Yep, that one that’s going over to the water pump bolt.

Mine came with the set up. I pulled it off a 4.3.
