Re: Tail and fender lights

There were no stock turn signals on AD trucks Even in 54 standard equipment was 2 head, two park and one stop and tail light. 55 First series shows no turn signals an only one tail light as standard and no optional lights from the factory.

Simply meaning that all AD trucks left the factory with one stop/tail light and no turn signals.

My grandfather's 48 1 ton dual wheel flatbed had a semaphore turn signal fastened to the cab up and behind the drivers door that you operated with a cable that was stretched above the door to where it was fastened in the front much like a lot of air horns were. You pulled the cable down to the left turn spot or further to the right turn spot. That probably isn't legal today.

Dealers installed turn signals but I am not sure if there was a kit of Genuine GM turn signal pieces that were sold by them rather than total sourcing through the aftermarket.

The light on the front fender is just an inexpensive turn signal that is still available today as are the lights on the back.

48 Chev 3100 that will run a 292 Six.
71 GMC 2500 that is getting a Cad 500 transplant.
77 C 30 dualie, 454, 4 speed with a 10 foot flatbed and hoist. It does the heavy work and hauls the projects around.
