Re: headlight assembly
YOU want to go to section 12 Sheet 14 in the assembly manual https://www.trifive.com/d1/55-59Assy.pdf
You may have to take the long road to get there as here is the link on Stovebolt to download the complete assembly manual for free. https://www.stovebolt.com/ubbthreads...ruck_Fact.html if the short road doesn't work. Now I am going to let my scroll finger rest.

Re: headlight assembly
do yourself a favor and replace the headlight adjuster plastic and screws
if they're original, they're probably very brittle, only $7 Brotherstrucks.com/1955-61-CHEVY_GMC-HEADLAMP-ADJUSTER-SCREW-NUT-SET

Re: headlight assembly
if your working on a disassembled truck, it wouldn't hurt to get an factory assembly manual aka FAM in this forum. mine is bookmarked with 50 post-it notes sticking out of it and well worn. $40

Re: headlight assembly
The link I posted in post 2 lets him download the manual for free. Still it is nice to have that paper copy out in the shop where you can look at it and the truck at the same time and not have to run back and forth to the computer to check. I've got the AD and TF versions downloaded on this computer but being as it is a tower rather than a laptop it can't be carried anywhere. I have the paper AD assembly manual that gets referred to all the time.

Re: headlight assembly
Lots of difference between 7 bucks for a few pieces and 72 bucks to save a half hour of work.
That Ecklers tutorial is a good one though. Easy to follow and well put together. Cleaning up the bucket and getting it ready to paint is probably going to be the most time consuming part of restoring one.

Re: headlight assembly
for sure mr48, but you never know what you have till its apart and cleaned up. sometimes there's a rust hole hidden under there or it is paper thin. that's why the complete unit link as well as the how to fix it link. I'm a fix it guy personally so would likely just buy the parts and fix the rust hole unless it's too far gone to weld up. not sure if blap has the skills and/or the tools
blap, hope you get it fixed, post a few pics of what you have |
