60-62 rearend help
I have a 1960 appears to be same rearend on my 62 as well. Has anyone had any luck rebuilding these. Napa was no help. This is my first time ever working inside a differential so I'm learning as i go. What i do know is 17 spline axles. It looks like 390 gears.

Re: 60-62 rearend help
Yes you can rebuild it.
A couple of things to keep in mind: Are you planning on keep it as original as possible? If so then it may be worth rebuilding it or swapping it out for the 62. You are limited to gear ratios and axle swaps, and it can be expensive to get parts. If you are not going to keep it original you have some options As you know, or will soon find out the 60-62 are a breed of there own and later years (63-72) parts do not fit with out some mods. I swapped out the rear end on my 60 with a 67" C10 3.73 non posi. It requires welding in new saddles, pan hard bar, and is a little wider but fits and works great with my old 3 speed and with my T5 . It came with 5 lug axles installed and the PO gave me the original 6 lug axles as well, so yo can keep your 6 lug wheels or go with 6 lugs. hope this helps if not try doing a search and Im sure you will find more help.
