Anyone still making exhaust systems for 1st Gen K5's?
In a usual "slippery slope" situation, what started as a project to add a crossover (H-Pipe) to my '72 K5 with a 350, has now become a project to replace the entire exhaust system in order to clean things up, relocate the exhaust exits, and tone down the overall exhaust note a bit.
Now, the question - Does anyone still make kits for these things? The closest I could find is this Flowmaster kit for a K10. I'm assuming that should fit, but I'd rather have 304SS instead of 409SS. https://www.holley.com/products/exha...r/parts/817940 Otherwise I'm going to buy a bunch of tubing and mandrel bends and going the DIY route. |

For the price of the Holley kits I would just have a shop custom make a system. Depending on where you live it should be around $1,000.
Now if you have the skills to DIY, then I would go that route. |

These guys list one. I haven't used them, so I don't have any feedback.

I made my own dual exhaust using off-the-shelf 304 stainless 'J' bends and a couple lengths of 2 1/2" pipe. It was less than $500 if I recall.

Re: Anyone still making exhaust systems for 1st Gen K5's?
I think I'm either going to modify the Flowmaster myself (but with some Dynomax or Borla mufflers) or just have a shop with TIG capabilities do the fab with 304.
FWIW, I did a "test run" of the crossover with some cheap aluminized tubing, and wow does it make a difference. 2,500-3,500RPM torque is vastly improved. Daily driveability is night and day. Here it is before I completed the weld-up. |

I just purchased the Holley kit. I called summit racing and they price matched the cost below.

I just noticed the price went up. I got it for $548 and free shipping.
